Both the sign-in and registration screens offer ID Austria underneath the form, as an alternative to typing an email and password.
If you hold ID Austria, it is the quicker route in: you authenticate on your phone rather than remembering a password.
What it is for
- Signing in. Use it instead of your password each time.
- Registering. Start an account with it rather than setting a password.
What it does not replace
Signing in with ID Austria is not the same as verifying your identity. They use the same credential but do different jobs: one gets you into your account, the other issues a signing certificate in your name.
You still complete the identity verification step on the dashboard checklist before you can send documents: though holding ID Austria makes it the fast route there too, taking under a minute rather than ten. See Verify your identity.
It also appears when signing
Separately again: ID Austria shows up as a provider when someone signs a Qualified document. That is a third use of the same credential, by anyone signing: account holder or not. See Signing with an eID you already have.
