Equivalent to a handwritten signature
Under Art. 25(2) eIDAS, the qualified electronic signature has the same legal effect as a handwritten signature. In Austria it is issued via ID Austria and the trust service provider A-Trust. Combined with the official seal, it provides the legal certainty needed to carry out certifications, notarisations and signature authentications fully and compliantly in digital form.

Will my clients see the name “swipesign”?
No. Portal, email invitations, video conference and deeds carry your domain, your logo, your colours and your sender address. Where third parties take part in the process, such as A-Trust for the signature or ID Austria at login, their names appear. Ours stays in the background.
How is swipesign different from marketplace platforms?
A marketplace brokers official acts and puts itself between you and your clients. swipesign supplies software to notary offices only and does not broker any legal transactions. You run your own signing platform under your own domain; the contact and the client data stay with you. Your feedback flows directly into product development.
What does swipesign cost for notary offices?
Billing is per signing appointment and signing client, regardless of how many deeds the file requires. The office archive runs monthly, with any number of team members, and can be cancelled at any time. Identification via WebID is only charged when a party has no ID Austria; we charge nothing for ID Austria. On top comes a one-off setup fee for your domain and your brand. You pay per process for what actually arises, a line item you can pass on as a disbursement.
Is the video conference secure enough for notarial proceedings?
The video conference is end-to-end encrypted and hosted and streamed exclusively in Europe. It is not recorded. What is logged is the connection data, i.e. who joined when, for how long and over which connection, sealed audit-proof under B-LTA. The identity of every participant is checked before joining.
Where is the data stored, and for how long?
All data sits in ISO 27001 certified data centres at OVH in Germany, and in France for the AI features, and never leaves the European legal area. Deeds, logs and connection data remain available audit-proof in the office archive. The office archive does not replace the deed archive; it adds the records you need at hand in day-to-day business. Notary offices are subject to statutory retention obligations, and automatic deletion after a short period would conflict with them. Your records can be exported in full at any time.
Can international clients sign too?
Yes. For parties without ID Austria, WebID handles identification in over 170 countries, in an attended video identification with trained service agents in German and English. The identification stays retrievable in a few steps for further legal transactions.
How does the identification stand up to deepfakes and the AMLR from 2027?
We work with WebID, specialists in identity verification certified to banking standards. Identity is not established from an uploaded selfie but in an attended video identification with liveness and document checks, the type of procedure ETSI TS 119 461 describes as attended remote identity proofing. For parties registered in Austria, ID Austria as the state eID takes that place. The EU Anti-Money Laundering Regulation (Regulation 2024/1624, AMLR) applies directly from 10 July 2027 and tightens due diligence for remote identification too. We keep aligning the platform with it. The duty of care remains yours; we supply the procedure and the evidence that makes it demonstrable.
