The Monthly / Annual switch changes how the subscription is billed, not what it costs: €49 a month or €588 a year (net, excl. VAT). Annual pools your allowances across the whole year and fixes the price for the contract year. The Free plan has no annual option.
Choosing without any history
The hard part the first time is that you have no idea what your volume is. Three things make it easier than it looks.
Signatures are counted per signer, not per document. One contract sent to four people is four signatures. That single fact catches more people out than anything else about the pricing: see What counts against your allowance.
There are no seats to size. The subscription includes unlimited users, so the only question is whether more than two people will send. If yes, that's the subscription. If no, Free covers you until the volume says otherwise.
Nothing is blocked when an allowance runs out. Extra signatures are billed per piece: €1.40 per AES on Free, €0.90 on the subscription (net, excl. VAT). Starting small costs you nothing but the per-signature price.
