Click Verify identity to download and you are asked how you would like to confirm you are the named recipient.

Tick the consent box first
Both options stay greyed out until you accept the terms and agree that your identity data may be processed to release the files. That is the consent step, not a bug.
Your ID does not reach swipesign
The page says so directly: your verification is handled by the provider. Swipesign never sees your ID document.
The provider runs the check and reports the result. Images of your passport, the video, the document scan: all stay with them. See What swipesign can and cannot see of your ID.
You only do it once
When the check passes you get a personal access code. Keep it: you can come back to this transfer later and use the code instead of verifying again. See Using your access code.
What the sender sees
Three things, in order: that you opened the link, that you passed the check, and that you downloaded the files. Each is timestamped in their audit trail.
The name has to match
The check is matched against the name the sender entered for you. If they typed it wrong or used a nickname, verification may fail through no fault of yours: go back to them and ask them to correct it and resend.
